| Women
Work! is a national, organization that is dedicated
to empowering women from diverse backgrounds and helping
them achieve economic self-sufficiency.
Women Work! serves as
a vital link between hundreds of programs, agencies
and educational institutions nationwide that provide
education, job training and support services to millions
of America's displaced homemakers, single parents and
other women in transition. Since 1978, the Network has
assisted more than 10 million women to successfully
enter, re-enter and advance in the workforce.
In addition, Women Work!
offers more than 1,000 organization sponsored and developed
programs nationwide. These programs offer counseling,
workshops, skills training and job search assistance
to approximately 400,000 women each year throughout
the United States.
Panasonic's ongoing support
of Women Work includes sponsorship of the "Woman
of Vision" luncheon during the annual conference.
During the conference, over 300 workforce leaders, advocates
and state administrators attend three days of intense
workshops, networking opportunities and special events
centered on women's issues.
Panasonic has also provided
funding for specific projects of the organization including
a computer training skills program targeted to Hispanic/Latino
women in Hudson County, New Jersey, where Panasonic
has its North America headquarters operations.
In 2004 Panasonic provided
Women Work with an in-kind donation of a public service
announcement (PSA) on the Panasonic Astrovision
screen in Times Square.
A Panasonic executive
currently serves as co-chair of the organization's Corporate
Board of Advisors.
