The New
Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) has been cited
as one of the tri-state region's leading cultural institutions.
Panasonic was one of the first corporations and the
only Japanese company to believe that a $180 million
arts institution would thrive in downtown Newark, NJ
- the state's largest city. With a $1 million contribution,
Panasonic was the 11th million-dollar supporter of NJPAC.
The main theater (2,800+
seats), also known as Prudential Hall, and the smaller
500 seat Victoria Theater, have been host to a diverse
line-up of entertainment including opera, orchestras,
hip-hop, jazz, R&B, Broadway shows, children's programming,
theatrical plays and a host of other events. NJPAC has
leveraged its presence in New Jersey by providing outdoor
entertainment and dining to over 3,000 weekly guests
during the summer. In addition, the facilities are used
to host job fairs, cultural events and special holiday
programs.
Panasonic continues to
support NJPAC as a major sponsor. For the past couple
of years, Panasonic's funding has been used to underwrite
the very popular cabaret series.
NJPAC has a prestigious
Board of Directors, including executives from Prudential
Financial, Merck, AT&T, Warner Lambert, Public Service
Electric and Gas, Verizon, and IDT to name a few. Two
former Panasonic Chairmen have been honored to sit on
the NJPAC Board.
